What is WinSCP?

At is says on its site
WinSCP is an open source free SFTP client, SCP client, FTPS client and FTP client for Windows. Its main function is file transfer between a local and a remote computer. Beyond this, WinSCP offers scripting and basic file manager functionality.

Installing WinSCP

This is really quite trivial. Go to the WinSCP download page. On your own computer, where you have the rights to install software, Installation package of the first version mentioned in the downloads page. If that fails because permission is denied use the first anchor that says Portable executables.
Follow the installation instructions. I suggest you don't waste your time installing software that is otherwise suggested.
When asked about the default interface, I suggest you use Windows Explorer rather that Norton Commander interface style. I prefer the former, but the latter is the default.
